Beginner Quilt Class with Carolyn & Emily

If you have always wanted to make a quilt, this is the class for you! Carolyn is a quilt expert and an experienced teacher who will take you from start to finish in the process of creating a quilt. And she is also a really lovely person too. 

Basic sewing knowledge is helpful but not required. You will learn about fabric selection, cutting, piecing, pressing, sewing tips, layering your quilt, quilting, and binding.

Specific Techniques Used: Cutting with scissors and rotary cutters; stitch settings and seam allowances; piecing; pressing; trimming and preparing for quilting; layering your quilt; quilting options; quilting on your domestic machine; trimming for final binding; binding options.

**NOTE: If you are interested in participating in a future class series, call the store to get your name put on the waitlist and someone will notify you when she has an available opening.**

When: Tuesdays - Sept. 1st, 8th 15th 22nd & 29th  5pm - 8pm


Price: $75 covers all 5 classes (pay in cash at MidSouth Sewing Center, or make other payment arrangements with Carolyn directly)

Price Description: Price includes 5 x 2.5-hour classes with experienced instructor(s).


Skill Level: Beginner, but comfortable using a sewing machine preferred


Supplies List:

- Sewing machine, in good, working order

- At least 2 bobbins for your machine

- Machine needles, Microtex 80/12 or 70/10

- Fabric scissors and a rotary cutter 

- Cutting mat

- Straight pins

- Seam ripper

- Rulers 

- Coordinating machine thread (quilting 50wt)

- Pattern: available for purchase at MidSouth Sewing Center

- Fabric: We encourage you to purchase all fabric and supplies from MidSouth Sewing Center. We are happy to help select coordinating fabrics.
