Gemulicious

Why not make your birthday gemstone in fabric? Any confident beginner can make this easy block. Accuracy is not required!
MJ Kinman has made 12 different birthstones of the year for you to sew your birthday month or sew the entire year. MJ Kinman designed these gems for beginners. You could make a pillow or wall hanging or use all of them to make a quilt. You’ll love this EASY new process of piecing with freezer paper, called single foundation piecing technique, but not sewing through it like foundation paper piecing. You can reuse this pattern several times. This is a TOTALLY different technique than “regular” freezer paper piecing. Also, 100% accuracy is not necessary! Sign up today! Instructor: | Anne Marcellis |
Instructor Bio: | Anne Marcellis began quilting in 2001 after years of sewing clothes for herself and her children. Then her journey started when she made her first wall quilt and secured the mitered borders with super glue! It ignited a passion in her that hasn?t slowed down. Her techniques have improved significantly, to the point of designing her own patterns, teaching, and speaking to guilds in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Georgia, South Carolina, Minnesota, and Tennessee. Anne has become proficient in many different free-motion quilting techniques and has just finished teaching a 10-session, 3 hours each free motion quilting class. She has won several show ribbons, People?s Choice Awards, and Best of Show awards at quilt shows. One of her quilts, Sammy?s Delight, is featured in the 2019 Quilt Art Engagement Calendar by American Quilter?s Society in Paducah, KY. It has received many awards and has traveled to Lancaster, Houston, Chicago, and Grand Rapids. Her winning Hidden Stars quilt appears in the 2023 AQS calendar. Anne?s work features lots of vibrant colors and movement. Her unique designs and patterns are written with the novice in mind with lots of details and diagrams. Anne?s patterns have been published in American Quilter, Fons & Porter Love of Quilting, and Minnesota Shop Hop magazines. She loves ?thinking outside the box? and is now experimenting with a more modern and artsy approach to quilting but uses traditional elements in her designs. She also loves trying to develop new techniques that make quilting easier while building confidence. Most of all, she adores all things quilty and stitchy as well as sharing and inspiring her creative processes with other quilters. Anne is a Christian and is very thankful to Jesus for the talent He's given her. She speaks to guilds about quilting, free motion quilting, and ?Everything you never knew about 9-degree rulers? separately. She will take you through her fast-paced ?Journey to Creative Quilting,? which includes lots of TIPS and TRICKS, as well as showing many quilts as examples throughout her presentation, so get out your paper and pen, and be ready to learn and be inspired to try new ideas!
